Elton Hall is an enchanting house which has evolved throughout the centuries.  Every room contains magnificent treasures, from late 15th century Old Masters, to Reynolds, Constable, and remarkable Victorian painters such as Millais and Alma Tadema.  Each generation has collected books and there are three libraries containing over 10,000 books. One of the most remarkable is Henry VIII’s prayer book with inscriptions by him and his three children. The garden has been lovingly restored over the last 35 years with mature topiary, a Gothic Orangery and billowing flower borders set between immaculately cut hedges.

Frogmore Paper Mill is the world’s oldest mechanised paper mill, the birthplace of papers industrial revolution. Sissinghurst Castle Garden was the backdrop for a diverse history; from the astonishing time as a prison in the 1700s, to being a home to the women’s land army. It was also a family home to some fascinating people who lived here or came to stay.

St Pauls Cathedral

Destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666, the current building was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1710. Its iconic dome is 111 metres (364ft) high and is one of the largest cathedral domes in the world.

Experience breathtaking views along the central aisle as you enter the cathedral. Pause to admire Wellington’s Monument, a tribute to the Duke of Wellington, one of the country’s leading soldiers and statesmen.

There are also monuments to the explorer Robert Scott and the painter JMW Turner, along with a marble effigy of John Donne, poet, and a former Dean of the Cathedral. Look for the scorch marks on the base of the monument which was damaged in the Great Fire of London.

Pitt Rivers Museum was designed by Thomas Manly Deane and Benjamin Woodward, who built the original Oxford University Museum of Natural History building three decades earlier, with an intention to house Pitt Rivers’ collection. The construction started in 1885 and was completed in 1886.

The current collection consists of 600,000 items, many of which have been donated by travellers, scholars, and missionaries. The collections are arranged thematically by form and function, according to Pitt Rivers theory that the objects should show the development of humankind from the simple to the complex.
